How Do Alarm Systems Work?

The main components used to protect your property create a network of devices
reporting back to a main controller. This is usually done using wires to
connect devices together or using wireless transmitting and receiving devices,
you can even have a mixture of both to get the best coverage. This can be very
important if you’re renovating an existing alarm system.
The main controller can be connected to a telephone line so it can be
programmed to call your phone or a monitoring service for reporting of the
system.
Its very important to consider why you should monitor
an alarm. The most important reason is that it tests that your alarm is
functioning correctly and can be used as a very reliable technical back up
report. Then you can use the monitoring service to inform you if the alarm has
been set correctly and at the right times you need it to happen. This is called
“supervision” and this service tells your alarm “open” and “close” times. Its not just for alarm activations. Finally, the monitoring
service is programmed to be contacted if an incident occurs in your secured
areas and tells you exactly where and when. Today, that same alarm signal,
reported by one of your alarm system detectors can then activate an IP CCTV
camera to immediately transmit live images to your mobile phone.
